Even though it looks as though I may have gone missing after my last post – we HAD to come home. Hubby had to work (the nerve) and L-man had to go to school (geesh) so we left the beach setting for home. And since returning home – we’ve been BUSY with life.

So today I leave you with two photos from Saturday of the little miss on the beach. Yes L-man was there but busy staring at a dead fish in the water (boys) and well…that wasn’t a great photo op. And the littlest dude was there but in the carseat/stroller trying to nap.

And surprisingly, we didn’t blow away as you’ll see from the photos, the wind was HIGH – as was the sun (usually is around 1 pm).

Gone playin’

I thought I’d share a little bit of work that I did recently (as in over the past three months) as a guest designer for Piggy Tales. In case you didn’t know, they have a monthly kit full of their product and it’s a really good value. You can see the May kit here along with the items that I created using that kit.

Now when I said that I’ve been working on it over the past three months, I meant it! They contacted me shortly after Finn was born about participating and fortunately it was a deadline that I could meet at the time! NOW I’m finding time to create again!

Anyway, take a look at the kit and if you like it, mention I sent you will ya?

This was a conversation on the way home from school yesterday:

Liam gets into the van…

Mommy: How was your day honey?
L-man: good
(insert lots of stories)
Mommy: How was lunch?
L-man: let’s see if I get a snack. I ate…..
(insert lots of food related talk here until…)
L-man: OUCH…there is something in my eye!
Mommy: We’ll wash it when we get home baby.

So this is a perfectly normal after school conversation right?

Well let me tell you, the role of mommy was played by the little miss. Yep. She listens to everything going on around her and obviously repeats it. She has been calling him honey a lot lately.

We love the little mama!

OK…so I went back through some of the comments over the past couple of months and answered a few questions. I have a habit of responding personally to people sometimes, but realize that others may want to know too so I’ll try and answer in posts in the future – not that I get TONS of questions or anything – I know I’m not that popular!

So here goes and if I didn’t address something that you want to know, ask away pleasE!!!

first time to blog.
can you please tell me where in the world you get your sons shirts. i love them.i have three boys and even though i work for the gap, i find it hard to find great, and distinct shirts for them.
thanks.

I’d probably have him wear more gap if I worked there – that’s awesome! Cute boy things are so hard to find, no? Add the fact that I love color AND a bit of a unique factor and it’s way tricky. I buy a lot of Liam’s clothes online. I get really sick of polos (solid and striped). I’ve shopped Tea Collection, Mini Boden, Hanna Anderson, Chasing Fireflies and then various boutiques (usually while I’m looking for Addy). Wonderboy was always a fun brand to shop for when he was smaller and is carried at a lot of different stores.

you look absolutely amazing, m. a-maz-ing. seriously. and the three of them look just beautiful as well.
and because you know i’ll ask, tell me about a’s dress…

Mel’s awesome! Thanks for the compliment! And she’s referring here to the feather dress dress “A” wore to my parents Anniversary party. I found it on etsy and I’ll be honest, it was a splurge. I bought it specifically for the party and selfishly wanted her photographed in it (my folks had the event photographed kind of like a wedding reception would be). I don’t like the shirt underneath the dress but it was cold and windy that day and felt she needed it for warmth (stupid practicality). I’m hoping to photograph her outside in it – without the shirt maybe this weekend since it’s going to be nice. But I digress (as I always do). The shop is here: but be warned, it comes in many yummy colors and is just so pretty!

The quality of this dress is FANTASTIC! The feather part actually comes off of the main dress so it’s like an apron on the front. BUT it’s not the most practical. It IS hard to sit in without breaking/crushing feathers. So she didn’t wear it in the car. The highchair was even tricky…as was sitting on our lap. It did shed as the night progressed…perhaps it was from the broken/crushed feathers? But while she was standing, it was beautiful! Haha

LOVE YOUR PICTURES! What kind of camera do you use? And do you make sweet Addy’s adorable outfits?
Thank you on the photos! And on the camera, since December I’ve been shooting with a Nikon D700. Before that I was using a Nikon D90. I’m a prime gal when it comes to lenses and usually shoot with my 28 or 50mm lense.

On Addy’s outfits, I don’t make them. As with Liam, I buy a lot of her stuff online through Etsy and various boutiques that I stumble across online. Keep reading for more info!

I love those pictures, Where did you get Addy’s dress, I love all the outfits you always dress her in, would you mind sharing which Etsy stores you shop
Thanks again! This dress reference goes back to the cupcake one she was wearing that I got from here.

Some of the other etsy stores that I’ve shopped:

And that’s all…I think. I feel like I missed a photography one from someone…who mentioned a class or something? I’ll go check again. This is fun! THANKS!!!!!

I have no doubt that the raisins fell on the floor there and the bunny danced into place. She had no clue but it definitely made me smile.

And after photographing this cute little bunny, I found another one.

She puts on the ears to drive her car in the playroom, not quite sure why but perhaps they help her with direction.

I’ve been doing the monthly updates with little Finnian but what a difference two weeks make! Especially the past two weeks!

I snapped this photo yesterday before taking him out of the swing:
swing

Some things going on with him:
*He found his hands pretty consistently and if he’s awake, they’re in his mouth
*He is “talking” a lot
*He started belly laughing yesterday. We’ve heard his little laugh before but not like this one. Amazing.
*He goes to bed at 7:30!!! 7:30!!!!!!!!!! I dream feed him when I go to bed around 11-12 and he wakes up another 1 or 2X to nurse before waking in the morning for the day…at 7:30!!!
*He naps in the morning about 1.5 hours after waking. LOVE that quality time with Addy and oddly, I miss the little dude still!
*He naps again in the afternoon about 2 hours after waking from the morning nap. Napping is a VERY good thing…especially if it overlaps with baby girls nap so I get some quality time with Liam.
*He rarely cries now and if he does, I know why (tired or hungry). LOVE when we get to this stage!
*Likes being worn…as if he had a choice!
*Seems to like a rattle/bunny toy that I show him. He wants to grab it but can’t quite figure it out. He’ll get there!
*Can roll on his sides but usually that’s just when he’s hungry and wants to nurse. Doesn’t seem to care about rolling onto his belly for anything.
*He melts my heart on a daily basis. And seeing him with his brother, sister and daddy makes me one happy gal!

Easter weekend = fun family times

Busy too! And I’m afraid it’s another post where I’ll talking through photos.

On Friday we dyed Easter eggs. We draped Addy in her plastic painting shirt, anticipating the worst and then turned them loose. Oddly enough, it went well and they worked well together. I snapped this quick photo (pay no attention to quality) before she decided the camera was a waste of time.

dsc_4134

And because Addy complained about the camera, Liam wanted his photo taken. This was his golden boy moment.

dsc_4140_2

And then Easter morning started with one very excited little boy who knew very well what was waiting for him downstairs. The problem? His sleepy sister didn’t get it and likes to sleep in. So daddy started on breakfast while Liam played in his playroom until the little miss got up. Once that happened, the egg hunt began (and I didn’t pull those photos yet). And both kiddos took well to that. Liam scoffed at the chocolate in the eggs – only because the others were filled with planets and he was on a mission to find all of the planets. Addy loved hers, filled with tiny animals, beaded necklaces, rings and stickers. Definitely a success!

Then they moved onto the baskets. After a lot of hunting, Liam found his in the washing machine (silly bunny) and was thrilled (as usual) with the apples inside. LOVE that tradition started when he was only two!

Flashy photo(s) alert:
dsc_4191

So we started that tradition with our baby girl too. Another success:
dsc_4204

Her basket was hidden under the the baby play gym in the living room. And while she seemed to like everything in the basket, mommy liked this best:
dsc_4211

She’s a very good mama you know…supports the head like a real pro.

So then we all got dressed and while the baby slept on me in the carrier, the kiddos posed for an Easter photo (now we’re back to the non-flash, auto photos):
dsc_4270_2

And it really wasn’t as easy as it looks since they tend to get a bit silly.

And then another egg hunt with the cousins…outdoors this year…in the sun on all things. The past few years have been cold with either rain or snow so this was a pleasant surprise.

Addy caught on again and found her eggs:
dsc_4293

And Liam stopped to count his loot, obviously I was bothering him:
dsc_4303_2

My little nephew got into it as well:
ponypage1

I still need to edit the other boys but you get the idea.

And that’s all on the photo front. We got to spend lots of time with our family and that felt good.

I hope you had a wonderfully Happy Easter as well!

Exciting stuff

I was going to start off today with a fun little game that is totally NOT my idea. What happens is, I put up a photo like this:

dsc_3995

and you leave a comment with what the caption would be. I’d pick a winner, send off a little prize, explain the photo and we’d all have a grand time, no?

The idea came from this blog that I’ve followed for well over a year now. I love her writing style, her stories are awesome and her kids are darling. She had a tricky pregnancy with a little boy she named Stellan, and now they’re having some issues with his health again. If you have some time, check them out. I know that sweet little boy and his family could use all the positive thoughts and prayers they can get!

Now back to the photo. This was what we woke up to on Saturday morning. He dragged the cup around with him all day long. Why you ask?

Well, it’s pretty exciting!

dsc_4033

You see, his tooth was lose and he was convinced that it was “hanging by a thread” as daddy put it. And he didn’t want to risk the tooth jumping out of his open mouth at top speed and on to the floor, only to be lost forever. So the cup was there to catch it, obviously!

So, Sunday morning we woke up to a little boy looking like this:

dsc_4036

And the tooth? Not in the cup. Or in his hand. Or in the tooth holding silver thingy. It had fallen out during the night and was in his bed. Fortunately daddy found it and all was well in the world.

My boy looks completely different with the missing tooth. And he now has a lisp that I can’t imagine will get any better with a mouth full of baby teeth just waiting to jump out. And I’m very afraid as to what the new teeth are going to do. Time will tell.

In the mean time, I’ll leave you with a photo of a little dude with no teeth. And doesn’t he seem to be saying “rock on” with that pose?

dsc_4064

Just a thought.
