Holy Hiatus! I apologize for the time off. September’s are always a huge adjustment period for me as my biggest goes back to school and I’m left to figure out how to balance my days. I’m there now, just in time for the madness that comes along with October to begin.

Yesterday my littlest dude turned nine months. You’d think that I’d come to understand and accept the “they grow fast” bit by now. I don’t. I swear he was born yesterday.

As of today he:
*Still smiles more than any baby I know
*Motors around the room doing the best army crawl ever. We’re not to the knees yet.
*Pulls up onto the hearth, coffee table, baby gate, me…you get the idea.
*Puts everything in his mouth (not fond of this stage)
*Climbs and gets himself into a sitting position, and then proceeds to squeal (it has nothing to do the fact that I squeal and clap my hands like a manic when he does it…totally unrelated)
*Drinks from a straw sippy cup with water in it (and here I thought we’d be practicing for a few more months)
*Is part monkey and could eat bananas ALL THE TIME (perhaps he gets that from his dad…or Dean?)
*Tolerates sweet potatoes and peaches. But nothing else.
*Peas make him gag. I can sympathize as I have the same problem. Poor us.
*Signs for “milk”…mama’s so proud
*Naps 3-4 hours a day…over two naps
*Sleeps well at night still (thank goodness)
*Pull hair like a champ
*Bites my shoulder really well…ouch.
*Has the cutest curls in the world
*Babbles “mama,” “dada,” “babababababa”…yells a lot…and says something that sounds like “diths”
*Doesn’t talk TO us yet
*Won’t sit on his butt yet for very long

So that’s my wee dude in a nutshell! He’s awesome!

Now for photos. I set up a little shoot last week indoors after addy’s dance class. Why do I mention the dance class? Well…because as soon as I set up the backdrop for the baby shoot she decided that she wanted to take photos AND she wanted to go first. And who am I to deny a small beauty of a photo op? She ran over and plopped her naked self down faster than I could say “hold on I need to get you dressed.” And most likely by the time I got her dressed she would have changed her mind. So about the naked part – she wears a leotard (and tutu per her request) to dance class which is a one piece body suit. And while my gal LOVES the outfit, she loves it to come off after class so that she can touch her belly. So off it came and she was free (aka naked) for the afternoon.

Thank goodness I set up the white because I think it works well with her…um…skin!

You think?

How about now?

She was totally getting into the shoot and working the camera.

And ready for her close-up!

Until she was done:

And then it was the little dudes turn since he WAS the one turning 9 months. So I plopped him down, back up to take the photo and the little bugger crawled away (smiling the whole time). I tried it again…and again…and again…and about 25 more times and realized that HE was in control of the shoot…not me. So I got a chair.

And he stayed put.

While the camera may add ten pounds his cloth diaper adds about 20!

He was so proud of himself and just plain happy!

Then I grabbed a box and put him in it to keep him from escaping.

It worked! He was happy and found it tasty.

And then found it comfy.

That’s my nine month old little boy…and his two year old sister.

Older, wiser…

After three years he has a new lunch box and his trusty bento box is now our back up.

And he has a backpack now to carry all of that homework home:

And since when does he look ten? Where is my little guy anyway?

First grade. Sigh.
