This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween…

Thanks goodness for the miracle that is decent weather and no rain for trick-or-treating in my city! Anything the yields LESS whining and complaining from the kiddos (who outnumber us) is a GREAT thing.

This years costumes were fun (but I do say that every year). I start thinking about them in August (at least…not kidding) in case it’s something that I need to make…or track down. Fortunately I didn’t have to do much this year and you’ll soon see why.

Liam has a rather new (er…two month) obsession with the Beatles…as in the band (not the bug). He has a lot of their music on an MP3 player that he listens to A LOT. He has Hard Days Night on there too and asks countless questions about them (who sings what song, why are they running, why do so many songs have the word love in them) – he’s curious. So when faced with what to be for Halloween this year, he decided on a Beatle, Paul to be exact.

Or “Paul Beatle” if you’re taking to addy. On our way to trick-or-treating tonight he said, “I hope I don’t get chased by a lot of girls…” since that’s what happens in the movie. Cute stuff!

I’m pretty sure Paul was never this alone in an alley, you think?

Our second child was something that she could probably pull off every year…a fairy princess. And I have to say that she worked the costume. Her manners were turned way on and she parted almost every house with a “Happy Halloween”. I swear folks were dumping handfuls of candy in her bag.

Here she is flittering around in her element:

And a close-up in what we call her “silly piggies” – truth be told they helped her crown stay in. I was losing my light in this photo!

Our littlest guy wore the same costume that Liam wore six years ago. This costume is the first one that I EVER made and I love it. I love that I made it, I love that it’s stinkin’ cute and I love that my two boys have now worn it.

The little wise owl in his tree.

Or getting ready to take flight with the most adorable wings ever (and I’m so not biased).

He totally didn’t care about the costume either. He’s awesome.

Something else that’s awesome? Our pumpkins.

Friday night we FINALLY made time to cut the pumpkins (video coming soon). The kids helped scoop the goop (with a side of complaining) and then hubs and I did the carving. The boys did one and the gals did the other. Who knew that pumpkin carving could be so much fun?!?!

Here is the boys pumpkin (Liam first requested a Beatles one but daddy was a big intimidated)…this was next on the list of options.

And this was the girls pumpkin. Obviously not MY choice!!!

Ten months

Ten months yesterday. And he’s still as happy as ever. I have more photos so stay tuned for more Finn-ie goodness! He has been sick for the past week which has not been ideal for photos. But at 10 months: He’s still not a sitter. If the leaves weren’t on the ground and he weren’t [...]

Ten months yesterday.

And he’s still as happy as ever. I have more photos so stay tuned for more Finn-ie goodness! He has been sick for the past week which has not been ideal for photos.

But at 10 months:
He’s still not a sitter. If the leaves weren’t on the ground and he weren’t stunned to be plopped down in the middle of the yard, he’d be crawling off.
He has been pulling up and cruising since about four days after my last post.
He pulls up on EVERYTHING.
He hasn’t figured out how to get down gracefully from pulling up.
Because of the last two, he’s EXHAUSTING. I can’t leave him for ten seconds because I’m afraid he’ll hurt himself.
He still army crawls but it’s mixed with regular crawling.
He likes food with flavor. No simple purees.
LOVES bananas.
Has the most beautiful head full of curly hair. LOVE IT!
Laughs often.
Smiles more often.
Babbles a lot.
Signs “more.”
Plays peek-a-boo but covers his ears. SO adorable.
Does “so big”.
Hides when asked “where’s Finn”
Recently learned that squinting is silly.
Have I mentioned that he pulls up on EVERYTHING!
Or that he CAN’T GET DOWN?
Naps twice a day still
Can be prompted to say “da da” – don’t think he gets it though
Has three teeth on the top and three on the bottom
Has mastered a straw to drink water
Still nurses like a champ
Is the most amazing, beautiful, happy ten month old I know!

Seven

Once upon a time, about seven years ago, a little boy was born. And by little, I mean not much larger than a twenty dollar bill. See? He was in the four pound category and I was smitten (and a bit nervous). He had the sweetest little face, and VERY skinny legs… And his mama [...]

And his mama was sporting the cutest pair of polka dot pajamas, no?

From the start he was a snuggle bug and a fussy eater – neither of those have changed. And as he grew, he turned busy and happy and goofy, always smiling, and lighting up the room. Not much different from who he is now.

He’s my baby, my buddy, my sweet little boy.

dsc_9285

He’s easy to read. Sometime nervous or overly anxious. He’s sensitive and emotional. He’s the one I worry about most.

dsc_9287

He’s also creative, imaginative and definitely fun.

And if he can make someone laugh it’s a huge bonus to him. He’ll do what he can!

dsc_9267

He’s one of the kindest little boys I know. He’s sweet and innocent and truly a good kiddo. I’ve never met a better seven year old…ever.

Happy Birthday buddy!
